Methodology
How the data on this site is gathered, and how our rankings are decided — kept separate on purpose.
The short version
Data is automated. Rankings are editorial. The Bot Market Monitor pulls real Solana volume and fee numbers from DefiLlama every day, with no human judgment involved in what gets recorded. Which bots we actually recommend — the tiers, the "worth switching to" calls — is a separate, human decision, based on trust, execution quality, and product fit, not just who has the most volume. We track bots we don't recommend (and even ones we've removed as options entirely) because a complete dataset is what makes any of this citable.
How the Monitor Works
Source
Every number on /market comes from DefiLlama's free public API, scoped specifically to Solana-chain activity. Several tracked bots (Maestro, for one) run across multiple chains — we query DefiLlama's Solana-only chain overview rather than each bot's overall summary, so a bot's numbers here always reflect Solana activity only, not its footprint on other chains.
Cadence
A daily automated job pulls fresh numbers once per day and appends them to an append-only history — we never rewrite or delete a past day's recorded value, even if it later looks anomalous; a correction gets a note, not a silent edit.
Stale handling
If a day's fetch fails, we do not show a gap and do not fabricate a number. The last known value is carried forward and marked stale in the league table, with the actual as-of date shown, until a real fetch succeeds again. This is the same principle behind removing this site's old build-time-computed "last updated" dates — a freshness indicator that can't tell the truth is worse than none at all.
What "market share" means here
A bot's share is its daily Solana volume divided by the combined daily volume of every bot we track — not the entire Solana trading-bot category, since that would require assuming we track every bot that exists. We track a growing but incomplete set (currently: Axiom, Fomo, GMGN, Trojan, Photon, Moonshot, Bloom, Maestro, and BonkBot/Telemetry).
How Rankings Are Decided
Volume tells you what's popular right now — it doesn't tell you what's trustworthy, well-built, or right for a given trader. Our tiers come from actually using each bot with real money, not from sorting the league table:
- • Tier 1 (recommended): Axiom, Fomo. The two bots we'd point a new trader to today — highest quality, actively shipping, no reservations.
- • Tier 2 (trusted niche pick): GMGN. Not a lesser Axiom/Fomo — a different job (AI analysis, copy trading, multi-chain, auto-sniping) done well.
- • Tier 3 (weakest alternatives): Trojan, Photon, Moonshot. Safe to keep using if you're already on one, but no reason to choose them fresh today — each is in real, DefiLlama-verified decline.
- • Tracked, not recommended: Maestro, Bloom. Real products we haven't reviewed in depth yet.
- • Removed entirely: BullX, BonkBot. Discontinued as recommendations after real decline or shutdown. We still track BonkBot's successor (Telemetry) in the data only — tracking isn't recommending.
Referral disclosure: we use referral codes/links and earn a commission when you sign up through one. That relationship doesn't set the tiers above — see our About page for the full disclosure.
Corrections Policy
If a number here looks wrong — a DefiLlama listing mismatched to the wrong bot, a stale figure that's been stuck too long, a tier we've gotten wrong — tell us. We'd rather fix it than defend it. Reach out via X or the Telegram group.
Verified corrections get fixed at the source (the underlying data or page), not just patched over — and if the mistake was a wrong DefiLlama slug or a stale editorial call, we'll say so rather than quietly changing the number.
